October in room 1

We went for an Autumn walk to observe the signs of autumn and we collected autumn leaves. We saw the sycamore tree and the sycamore wings or 'helicopters', the horse chestnut leaves and chestnuts or conkers, the beach tree and beech nuts and the oak tree and acorns. We used the leaves to create lovely squirrels and hedgehogs and we did some leaf rubbings.

We had fun doing stations in PE outside. PE days are Monday and Friday please make sure children are wearing their school tracksuits Monday and Friday for PE.

One of our themes for October was School. We went on a tour of the school. We saw Mary the secretary in the office. She showed us her computer, the photocopier and her special camera. Teacher went outside and we were waving to her on the screen. We went upstairs to see the staff room where the teachers eat their lunch. Then we went upstairs to the reading room and teacher read a story for us. We saw the hall and we went to visit the big girls in 6th class.

Then John Kelly the caretaker came to visit us in our classroom. He told us about the work he does in Scoil Mhuire and he showed us his tool belt with all his tools. We drew wonderful pictures of John in our copies.

We love our weekly visit to do Drama with Ms Walker in the hall on Tuesdays.
We  have so much fun. Here is a picture of us.
